AVA GARDNER : My World of Beauty : TV and Movie edition Part 2

"She can't act. She can't talk. She's terrific. Sign her." said Louis B. Mayer, as quoted by Ava's Nephew, Billy Grimes, for an arranged screen test on MGM.

Ava Lavinia Gardner was born December 24, 1922 in Grabtown, North Carolina. She was the youngest of seven children: Raymond, Melvin, Beatrice a.k.a. "Bappie", Elsie Mae, Inez, and Myra. Her somewhat muddy education took place in a town called Brogden, approximately 77 miles from the tobacco farm where she and her siblings were raised.

Ava was no glamour girl from the start; she could hold her own with the boys and ran around the rough country-side just as barefoot as could be. . .but it didn't matter how earthy she was. By the time she was eighteen there was no way to deny that Ava was a full-fledged beauty--just the type of girl one would see at the movies.

Ava was signed to a seven year contract. It was shortly after that Ava was touring the studio while "Babes On Broadway" was being filmed. Well, Mickey Rooney fell head over heals for her and they were married soon after. . . against the studio's wishes; but the studio didn't have to wait long to get the result they really wanted. They divorced 17 months later.
It was at that time when billionaire Howard Hughes began his pursuit for Ava. She had turned him down time after time, but one night after "no" meant nothing to him, she was forced to hit him on the head with a silver candle stick. He was still crazy about her.
Shortly after, Ava met and married band leader, Artie Shaw. This time, the weak link in the chain was Ava's educational background. He constantly rubbed the almost lack of it in her face. It ended in divorce in 1946.

It wasn't long after that Ava fell for who other than the famous crooner, Frank Sinatra. It couldn't have come at a worse time, too. Three years earlier, Ava had hit the spotlight in the movie, "The Killers". Her fame was so new and she had turned to her friend, the drink, to help her handle the stress. The Roman Catholic singer was married and had two kids, and even the shadow of the word "divorce" was scandalous.

She suffered a stroke in 1989, and died in 1990. . . .Sinatra, the love of her life, took care of all her final costs, but did not attend her funeral.

GRETA GARBO : My World of Beauty : TV and Movie edition Part 1

Greta Garbo was born Greta Lovisa Gustafsson on September 18, 1905. Garbo was born in Stockholm to poor parents. She went to work at age 14, first as a lather girl in a barbershop, then as a clerk in a department store and as a model.

Many newer moviegoers don't even know about her, for a number of reasons. Many of her films were silent, and some are no longer available. All were black and white. She ended her career prematurely. There are rumors, perhaps intentionally encouraged by her, regarding her sexual orientation. But what remains of her legacy is marvelous, and there's plenty of material on the Web that will help new fans learn more about her.

She died in 1990, at the age of 84, after almost 50 years out of the filmmaking business.

A woman of remarkable beauty, intelligence, and independent spirit, Garbo is a paradigm for today's modern woman.

ATTENTION TV OPERATOR!!!

specifically, china TV Operator, for us, English speaking viewer and FTA satellite browser,(living in Indonesia-Java&Bali in particular) we found that our playground is very limited, from 16 satellites, the English speaking canal and or international TV for English speakers are very few (CNA, Arirang, BBC, Australian Network, Bloomberg, NHK World, Russia Today, etc...).
Thanks to TV5 Monde, French based TV to provide English subtitle on their movies and/or drama.

Why can't you guys(China TV Operator) do as the French do(give English subtitle), your viewer (soon to be fans) will be adding up substantially, especially on this TV Operator, I-HORIZON(HK Base), SUN TV, AZIO TV, PHOENIX,CETV and also CCTV, they already have CCTV 9(english),but never drama nor movie on it,kind a jealous with CCTV E(Espanol) and CCTV F (French), host not only speaks the language, drama and movies got Spanish and French subtitle...what about us???

Indonesian Chinese, young adult generation, can hardly speak mandarin, in numbers, quite a lot, so don't you guys wanna help us out?entertainingly....?

World Triathlon

I was surprise to see World Championship Triathlon on ALKASS SPORT CHANNEL last night, it wasn't a live feed, but it sure fun to watch, what a strength all that participants have, for me it's way more entertaining than watching MOTO GP or FORMULA, sort of a cat race, a true human engine.

A series of Swimming, cycling and running, it's true what they say...all we need is discipline and practice, human strength hmmm...

Alkass Sport Channel available on asiasat 2 satellite

Stay Young with Dancing Plant

it's not a joke, there's a plant in Bali called "PUTRI MALU"(Shy Princess), whenever you touched it, strings of it leaves folded across each other, like a shy princess, last Saturday, there's a report in Channel News Asia, of a different kind of plant, called UDORN DANCING PLANT, it literary dances, inside the plantation, there's a keyboard along with the keyboardist, when it plays, the plan dances, of course not rhythmically, but it moves.
Here's what their official explanation;

*Udorn Dancing Plant, a hybrid of Desmodium Gyrant also known as the "telegraph plant", because of its ability to respond to sounds like music, singing, gentle talk, as well as meditation and telepathy by moving its leaves. Extract from this herbal plant was used in some parts of ancient Thailand as a preventative against several diseases. They called it by the name Cha Chaloe Charn, meaning "anti-aging tea".

Yeah, they're making tea out of it, not only that, also some other products, don't know how much the price is, and don't know wheter it's really workin' , only the hybrid ability amazed me, don't know why.

Need to know more you can check it out on this site,

Most of people thinks that certain people whom spend most of their time in front of magic screen are "potato head", stupid comment...it depends on what kind of program this people sees..if what you watch is mostly porn, you may become what they think you are, or you know, SINETRON (Indonesian Electronic Cinema), will cause the same effect... :-) (by the way...happy 25th birthday, smiley)
